2025 IMG Early Career Development Award

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) is now accepting applications for the 2025 cycle for a new Early Career Development Award for international medical graduates (IMG). This is a one year, $25,000 award. 


The goal of this program is to foster the research of IMG physicians who have recently completed a Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship. Research in clinical, translational, and basic sciences relevant to Pediatric Infectious Diseases is encouraged, including public health, epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, health disparities, infection control, outcomes research, pharmacokinetics, pathophysiology, molecular pathogenesis, and vaccine development.


The completed application should be submitted as a single pdf file through the website portal by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on April 1, 2025.

Please describe any current sources of research funding and the duration of commitment for that funding.

Please describe any pending sources of funding, the period for which that funding is requested, and the date that a decision is anticipated.

Division Director
The statement from the applicant's division director should summarize the applicant's qualification and potential for success and provide support for the applicant's choice of research mentor and research project. This statement should also document the division's commitment to preserve the appropriate amount of protected time for the fellow to conduct research during the award period.

If you are selected to receive an award, we will need to contact your institution's grant administrator to obtain the necessary financial information for processing payment. Please provide the contact details of the person we should reach out to in this case.

  1. Applicant’s biosketch in current NIH format (5-page limit)      
  2. Career development statement (1 page)
  3. Research proposal (5-page limit, including the statement of overall hypothesis and specific aims)
  4. References (no page limit)
  5. Budget justification (no page limit)
  6. Letter of support from the Division Director or Chair for the applicant’s primary appointment
